College football needs a spring league.

You could make it where it’s the time frame where you get freshman, sophomore, and juniors playing time. Get them in front a good sized crowd, and just have it be exhibition matchups (about 3-4 games) against teams in your conference. I see a lot of positives in this and it would benefit college football as a whole. The other thing is, no starters, you wouldn’t trot guys out there who if you lose to injury could down your whole season. Every team gets together for spring ball anyways, so why not do this? Would be akin to preseason ball in the NFL.
