Senior 157-pounder Tyler Berger received his seed first at 3 p.m., CT, while the others had to wait for the complete brackets release during the NCAA’s live selection show at 5 p.m. Berger, who is 24-3 this season (16-1) in duals, received the No. 2 overall seed in his weight class. The No. 1 seed at 157 pounds is Penn State’s #1 Jason Nolf. Nolf is a perfect 26-0 this season and dealt Berger two of his three losses this year. Berger will face No. 31 Benjamin Barton of Campbell in the first round.

 

Zeke Moisey (125) was NU’s only at-large qualifier, and he received a No. 19 seed from the NCAA. The two-time All-America honoree who transferred from West Virginia will have his work cut out for him if he wants to earn All-America honors for a third time. He’ll start his tournament by taking on No. 14 Ryan Millhof from Arizona State.

 

Sophomore Chad Red Jr. (141) certainly helped himself out with his second-place performance at the Big Ten Championships last weekend. He received a No. 16 seed and will face Iowa State’s Ian Parker, the No. 17 seed, in the first round. Red Jr. garnered All-America honors as a redshirt freshman last year after finishing in 7th place. Red Jr. is 18-11 this year.
