Berger Wins, Eight Huskers Finish Top Six at U.S. Open

Former Husker wrestler Tyler Berger won a title at the 2023 U.S. Open, while seven additional Huskers finish in the Top Six in Las Vegas last weekend.

Berger led a group of nine Huskers who placed at the U.S. Open. Harley Andrews (125 kg) finished sixth and Antrell Taylor (70 kg) placed second in the U20 Freestyle division. On the U20 Greco Roman side, Tyler Antoniak (72 kg) finished fifth. In the Senior Freestyle division, Silas Allred (97 kg) placed fourth, Ridge Lovett (65 kg) ended in sixth, TJ Dudley (97 kg) was third, Eric Schultz (92 kg) finished in fourth, Collin Purinton (74 kg) placed sixth and Berger (70 kg) finished atop the podium. Berger’s win also solidified a spot in this summer’s Final X event for a spot on the 2023 World team.
