2018 Nebraska Basketball Player Profiles: Amir Harris

A future contributor could see playing time this season

The Tim Miles era at Nebraska has rarely given red shirts out in recent years. More often than not the team has needed the talents of just about everyone on the bench. Every player has a chance to play and every one will at some point in time see the court. The only ones who do not are the players who have to sit out due to transfer rules.

Amir Harris very well could be one of those players we see come off the bench this year. He is a 6’5” combo guard from Hagerstown, Maryland. The Huskers beat out the likes of Auburn, Cal, and Rhode Island for Amir’s talents back in May of this year.

His weight coming out of high school was 180 lbs and is currently listed at 205. It’s nice to see the Husker basketball weight program paying dividends this off season. One hundred and eighty pounds might make a decent guard in high school but the Big Ten will eat you alive. The more muscle you can put on the better. Amir is also fairly lanky for a guard so he has the room to add the weight on. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was at 210 by November.
