Nebraska senior Pryce Sandfort is on the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year Trophy Watch List, released Monday morning. The list names 50 players entering the 2026-27 season (huskers.com).

It is the second national watch list for Sandfort this preseason. He was also on the NABC preseason watch list last week.

Why he is on it

The numbers from last season, per Nebraska Athletics:

  • 18.1 points per game on nearly 48 percent shooting, plus 4.9 rebounds
  • First-team All-Big Ten
  • 3.7 made 3-pointers per game, fourth nationally, at 41.6 percent
  • 129 3-pointers, a Nebraska single-season record and the second-highest total in Big Ten history
  • 15 games of 20 or more points, including three 30-point games, all in Big Ten play
  • 21.0 points per game on 57 percent shooting across three NCAA Tournament games, including 25 in the Sweet 16 against Iowa

That Sweet 16 run was Nebraska’s first, and it ended the best season in program history.

Tonight

Sandfort and the Huskers open the season against Le Moyne at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m. CT. Nebraska says a limited number of 300 Level tickets are available at Huskers.com/tickets or at the PBA box office starting at 5 p.m. Our full opener preview has the details.
