Nebraska volleyball keeps winning, and last weekend it had to come from behind to do it. The No. 1 Huskers are 23-0 overall and 12-0 in the Big Ten, with a 13-0 home record and an 8-0 mark on the road, per the official schedule.

Last weekend in Michigan

Both matches went four sets, and in both Nebraska lost the first set (schedule results):

Date Opponent Result Set scores
Fri. Oct. 30 at Michigan W 3-1 26-28, 25-20, 25-20, 25-14
Sat. Oct. 31 at No. 25 Michigan State W 3-1 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-12

The pattern is worth noting without overreading it. Nebraska trailed after one set twice in two nights, then won six straight sets, and the final set of each match was the most lopsided. Athletics’ recap of the Michigan match is here.

The take

Unbeaten in late October is not a novelty in Lincoln, but being pushed in the first set on back-to-back nights on the road is the most useful stress test this team has had in weeks. A road weekend in Eugene and Seattle, two travel days and a late Saturday start make for a better test than the record suggests. HuskersToday will post results from the official box scores the same night.
