At verify on 2026-09-05, huskers.com schedule and /boxscore/4246 printed a primary Ohio final: Nebraska 49, Ohio 21 (Overall 1–0 / Conf. 0–0 / Home 1–0 / Streak W1). ESPN’s game hub matches the same final (gameId 401858430). Media COS scoreboard packaging (OHIO 21–NEB 28) remains UNVERIFIED and is ignored.

ESPN’s game hub carries an AP lede summarizing Nebraska’s 49–21 win. Soft-open treats AP lines below as wire-attributed, not as huskers.com official PDF stats. If athletics later posts conflicting individual lines, prefer the athletics PDF/box.

Anthony Colandrea — attributed Week 1 frame

Pregame packaging (athletics / chart): Aug. 31 huskers.com notes flagged Colandrea and TJ Lateef as multi-start QBs; Colandrea’s 2025 Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year honor at UNLV is athletics language. Week 1 depth-chart beat packaging listed Colandrea as the Ohio-week starter (247Sports / Carriker summaries in LATEST-REPORTING.md).

AP / ESPN attributed opener lines (cite as AP via ESPN): Colandrea passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a fourth — “accounts for 4 TDs” framing in the AP lede on ESPN’s hub.

Soft-open may:

  • Say Colandrea started the opener as packaged
  • Quote the AP passing/rushing TD accounting with attribution
  • Note Nebraska’s final 49–21 and 1–0

Soft-open may not:

  • Invent completion percentage, INT totals, or QBR without official lines
  • Invent “perfect decision-making” grades
  • Invent postgame quotes

Jamal Rule — attributed Week 1 frame

Pregame packaging: Holgorsen / Rhule committee language — Mekhi Nelson OR Isaiah Mozee OR Jamal Rule co-listed; “no RB1” / “play all of them” via Hastings Tribune packaging (LATEST-REPORTING.md).

AP / ESPN attributed opener lines: Rule ran for 122 yards and scored three times (AP lede on ESPN).

Soft-open may cite that attributed rushing/scoring line. Soft-open may not invent yards-after-contact charts, snap shares, or “RB1 locked” proclamations from one game.

Mekhi Nelson — attributed Week 1 frame

Pregame packaging: Co-listed in the Week 1 RB OR cluster (same committee sources).

ESPN scoring board (attributed play log on the same hub): Nelson appears on scoring plays including a 29-yard rushing TD (3rd quarter) and a 51-yard receiving TD from Colandrea (4th quarter) on ESPN’s scoring summary. Soft-open may cite those scoring-play lines with ESPN attribution. Soft-open may not invent Nelson’s full rushing/receiving ledger or a grade.

HOLD thin grades (hard)

Claim type Soft-open posture

Invented snap counts / routes HOLD
“Proved he’s the guy” slogans HOLD — attributed lines only

How this feeds Week 2 literacy

#393 asked whether a primary Ohio box had cleared before “settled in” QB claims. Answer: yes for the final; partial for deep individual stats. Soft-open’s Week 2 QB/RB literacy may say Nebraska is 1–0 with AP-attributed Colandrea/Rule/Nelson scoring lines — and still refuse invented efficiency tables until official lines land.

Depth-chart continuity vs. one-game sample

Week 1 charts packaged Colandrea as the Ohio-week starter and the running-back room as a committee. One attributed opener does not rewrite athletics’ depth-chart PDF by itself. Soft-open’s continuity rules:

  • Starter language stays tied to the last dated public chart plus any new athletics release. Soft-open will not invent a midweek demotion/promotion from social rumor.
  • Committee language remains valid until athletics or an attributed beat chart collapses the OR cluster. Rule’s AP rushing line and Nelson’s scoring-play lines are performance notes, not automatic “RB1 locked” decrees.
  • Backup QB literacy (Lateef / Kaelin OR packaging from Week 1) stays untouched here — this frame does not invent snap counts for anyone not on the AP/ESPN attributed lines.

What “HOLD thin grades” means in practice

Soft-open may publish a table of attributed counting stats when the official PDF lands. Soft-open may not publish:

Thin grade temptation Why it stays HOLD
A/B/C letter grades No institutional grading scale; pure invention
“Won us the game” MVP crowns Marketing language, not a primary fact
Invented pressure rate allowed / PFF-style numbers Vendor stats need named vendor + date
Body-language coaching grades Unverifiable
Comparing Colandrea to 2025 Raiola as fact narrative Different seasons; keep separate sourced frames

If a beat writer publishes a grade sheet, soft-open may summarize with attribution to that outlet — soft-open will not launder the grade sheet into an athletics claim.

Scoring-play hygiene (ESPN board)

ESPN’s scoring summary for the matched final lists the sequence that produces 49–21. Soft-open may use that sequence as a timeline sketch when explaining when Rule / Nelson / Colandrea scoring touches occurred. Soft-open must label it ESPN’s board, not huskers.com, until athletics mirrors the same play log. If a conflict appears, huskers.com wins for institutional facts; ESPN/AP remains the wire attribution path for the lede lines already cited.

Week 2 handoff sentence (allowed)

Allowed: “Nebraska is 1–0 after an AP-attributed opener in which Colandrea accounted for four touchdowns and Rule ran for 122 yards with three scores, per ESPN’s AP lede; Nelson appears on ESPN scoring plays including a 29-yard run and a 51-yard catch. Soft-open holds letter grades and awaits official PDF lines before expanding.”

Forbidden: inventing efficiency ranks, “Heisman watch” claims, or unsourced injury add-ons for any of the three.

Bottom line: Colandrea / Rule / Nelson get an attribution frame, not a grades sheet — primary final locked, AP lines quoted carefully, thin grades held.
