The wait is almost over. Nebraska wrestling, No. 3 in the NWCA preseason coaches poll, opens its dual season this weekend (Nebraska wrestling schedule).
The first month
- Sunday, Nov. 8: vs Wyoming, Devaney Center, Lincoln, 3 p.m. CT.
- Friday, Nov. 13: at Oklahoma State, Gallagher-Iba Arena, Stillwater, 7 p.m. CT.
- Saturday, Nov. 21: at Penn, The Palestra, Philadelphia, noon CT.
- Sunday, Nov. 22: Keystone Classic, The Palestra, time TBA.
- Dec. 4-5: Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, Paradise Event Center.
Why Stillwater is the early test
Wyoming at home is the warmup. Oklahoma State in Gallagher-Iba on a Friday night is not. That is one of the loudest buildings in the sport, and it comes five days after the opener. As we wrote when the preseason poll dropped, the Huskers face nine top-25 opponents this season (HuskersToday). The early schedule tells you right away how real the No. 3 ranking is.
Home slate
After Wyoming, the Devaney Center does not see Nebraska again until Dec. 19 vs Campbell and Dec. 20 vs Virginia. If you want to catch them early, Sunday is the day.
