Nebraska women’s basketball opened 2026-27 the way it wanted to: never trailing. The Huskers beat San Jose State 81-54 Monday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena, led for 99 percent of the game and built the lead as high as 33 (ESPN box score).
Britt Prince led everyone with 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-6 from 3. She added eight rebounds, four assists and four steals in 32 minutes.
The turnover story
San Jose State committed 32 turnovers. Nebraska turned them into 37 points. The Huskers had 15 steals, with Prince at four and Kennadi Williams and Natalie Potts at three each.
That is what decided it, because Nebraska did not shoot it well. The Huskers were 30-of-74 (41 percent) and 7-of-29 from 3 (24 percent). The Spartans actually shot better from deep, 6-of-12.
