Two Huskers picked up national preseason recognition last week. Britt Prince landed on two lists, and Natalie Potts landed on one.

Prince: Naismith Trophy and Lieberman Award

Prince, a 5-11 junior from Omaha, was one of 50 players named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watch List on Thursday, Oct. 29. Huskers.com notes it is her first spot on a collegiate national player-of-the-year watch list.

Three days earlier, on Monday, Oct. 26, she was one of 20 players named to the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Preseason Watch List. That was the first of the Naismith Starting 5 lists released by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame with the WBCA. Prince reached the Lieberman Midseason Top 10 last season.

As a sophomore she led Nebraska in scoring (17.9 points per game), assists (4.4) and steals (1.5), added 4.1 rebounds, and earned first-team All-Big Ten from the league media. She shot 53.5 percent from the field, 45.7 percent from three and a Big Ten-best 91.2 percent at the line. In two 2026 NCAA Tournament games she averaged 24.5 points, and her 27 against No. 21 Baylor is the second-highest NCAA Tournament total by a Husker.

Potts: Cheryl Miller Award

Potts was one of 20 players on the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Preseason Watch List, announced Wednesday, Oct. 28. She was the 2024 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, then missed most of 2024-25 with a leg injury and all of 2025-26 in a second straight redshirt season.

Huskers.com says she is at full strength and has practiced fully since mid-summer. She had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals in the closed scrimmage win at Kansas State on Oct. 16, then 12 points and a game-high four steals in 17 minutes in the exhibition win over Wayne State on Oct. 23.

What comes next

Fan voting for the Naismith Starting 5 awards is open at hoophallawards.com. The Lieberman list will be cut to 10 in late January and to five finalists in late February, per huskers.com.

Nebraska opens the regular season against San Jose State on Monday, Nov. 2, at noon CT at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
