Walker To Make Husker Debut at Purdue

Lincoln – Nebraska Athletics announced Monday afternoon that men’s basketball player Derrick Walker will make his debut for the Huskers on Tuesday at Purdue.

Walker, a 6-foot-8 junior forward from Kansas City, sat out the 2019-20 season after transferring and missed the Huskers’ first 11 games this season following an NCAA suspension that dated back to his time at the University of Tennessee.

Walker will help the Husker frontcourt after appearing in 64 games for the Volunteers in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. As a sophomore, he played in 30 games as a reserve as Tennessee reached the 2019 Sweet 16 before falling to Purdue. He helped the Volunteers win an SEC regular-season title as a freshman, playing in 34 games and averaging 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field.

The Huskers take on Purdue Tuesday night at 6 pm. (CT) and the game will be televised on BTN and carried on the Learfield IMG Husker Sports Network.
