Tanner Lee is learning to be patient

There is a fine line between being overly cautious and being too aggressive and it is a line that Nebraska quarterback Tanner Lee is trying to navigate. Through four games the junior has thrown for nearly 900 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has thrown nine interceptions and three of them have been returned for touchdowns. Lee is hoping to eliminate the last two statistics as the Huskers prepare for Friday night’s Big Ten game at Illinois.

“Still having confidence in my arm and the ability to make plays but also knowing when to check it down and know when to try and not make big plays when you don’t have to”, said Lee. “Just take what they give you put it in the end zone when the time comes.”

Lee says focusing on first downs will help the Huskers produce more methodical drives and points to last week’s 27-17 victory over Rutgers as an example. Nebraska put the game away by running the ball on 20 of its final 22 plays.

“Our offensive line is taking pride in the work they have been putting in”, added Lee. “That was great to see them winning the game for us
