Plaques At Memorial Stadium Honor Nebraskans Who Fought In World War I

Two new plaques hang outside Memorial Stadium honoring the Nebraskans and UNL students who served during World War 1.

Assistant UNL Chancellor for Government and Military Relations…Michelle Waite tells KLIN News they have special significance on this Veterans Day. Waite says this is the least we can do in honor of the 100th anniversary of World War I.

University of Nebraska Regents Chair Robert Schafer pointed out in special ceremonies over the weekend that it is important on this Veterans Day to reflect on the values of our men and women in uniform…then and now….who have fought so hard to protect– freedom, equality, unity behind a purpose that is greater than any individual.

Schafer says that the University of Nebraska is among the nation’s elite institutions when it comes to research that protects the United States and our allies.
