Nebraska Running Back Greg Bell Leaves the Football Team

Nebraska running back Greg Bell has left the team, HuskerOnline.com reports. He’s the second player to depart from the Huskers this week. The departure comes after Bell fell down the depth chart and lost his place to Devine Ozigbo.

This season, Bell had 173 yards through four games. 170 of those yards came against Colorado. True freshman Maurice Washington also has been vying for playing time, which has increased the competition at the positon.

Bell played junior college football at Arizona Western and was ranked the number one junior college running back in the country. If Bell transfers to another FBS school, he will have to sit out next year, despite the NCAA’s new redshirt rule that allows players to play in up to four games before redshirting.
