Meyer and Owen Awarded by GCAA

Nebraska golfers Tanner Owen and Branden Meyer were each awarded the 2020 Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar Award by the GCAA for their work on and off the course.

Owen and Meyer were consistently the top two golfers on the Huskers squad this past season. Owen, a senior from Parkville, MO, would lead the team in scoring average with a 75.46 with Meyer being right behind him with a 75.53. Out of the six tournaments played in 2019-20, the two combined to lead the team four times. Each player’s best finish as a Husker came at the Prairie Club Invitational where Owen finished third and Meyer tied for 11th.

Both Meyer and Owen have had great success in the classroom and in the community. Both were named to the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall while Owen was also awarded Academic All-Big Ten as well as being a part of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

To be eligible for this award, an athlete is to be in their sophomore year or higher, have a stroke average of 76.0 or less, compete in 40% of the team’s rounds in the 2019-20 season and have a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2.
