Led by Scott Jacobson, the most successful coach in program history, Nebraska women’s tennis has reached new heights since joining the Big Ten Conference. In less than a decade as a member of the Big Ten, Jacobson has helped the Huskers to a regular-season conference title and a pair of top-20 national finishes, and he ranks third in Big Ten history in coaching victories. Jacobson has guided Nebraska to the NCAA Tournament six times, including the 2012-13 season when the Big Ten champion Huskers advanced tied for ninth place at the tournament, the best finish in school history. That same year, Mary Weatherholt, a two-time Big Ten Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Year, was the NCAA singles runner-up. Weatherholt was also an All-American in doubles and was selected as one of the top 10 senior student-athletes in all sports across all divisions of NCAA competition.
