Huskers Set To Host ITA Regionals

The Nebraska men’s tennis team will be hosting the ITA Regionals at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. Action will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, and run through Monday, Oct. 25.

The entire Huskers roster will be competing with three exceptions: senior Brandon Perez, junior Chester Wickwire and sophomore Andre Saleh will not be participating. Freshman Lars Johann will only be competing in singles action for Nebraska.

The tournament starts Thursday morning with one round of doubles and one round of singles. This will be the format that the tournament will use as it advances. All doubles matches will be played inside. Singles matches will be played outside as long as weather permits.  If there are any consolation matches, they will be either inside or outside.

The ITA Regionals will feature 93 players from 12 different schools, with a main singles and doubles draw in addition to consolation draws for each. In-state universities, Creighton and Omaha, will make the trip to Lincoln, as well as various schools from the central region.

Nebraska last competed at the All-American Tournament in Tulsa, Okla., where senior Will Gleason made it out of the first round of pre-qualifying. After a rough first day, the Huskers bounced back to take four of their five singles matches to finish the tournament strong.

Fans can follow along on Huskers.com using the live stats link, as well as watch indoor matches on playsight. Results will be posted to the website and @HuskerMTennis on Twitter, following completion of play at the end of each day.
