Huskers Finished Day One In Iowa



Iowa City, Iowa. — The Nebraska women’s tennis team completed day one of competition at the ITA Regionals with both singles and doubles play. 

In their first doubles match up, Chloe Kuckelman and Lucy Loy defeated Oral Roberts’ Gutierrez/Iskakova, 6-2, but then fell short in their second match against Kadleckova/Cabezas from Iowa State, 4-6 . In the second doubles match of the day, Kristina Novak and Maja Makoric teamed up to defeat Roper/Surcey from Arkansas State, 6-4. To wrap up doubles play, the team of Jillian Roa and Isabel Adrover Gallego fell just short to Central Arkansas’ Ishimura/Vasupongchai, 6-7 (4). 

Loy had the first singles match of the day defeating Southerland from Arkansas, 7-5, 6-4, and lost a hard-fought matchup to Lee from Central Arkansas, 5-7, 7-5, 7-10.

Overall, the Husker went 2-2 in doubles and 1-1 singles.

Ishimura/Vasupongchai (UCA) def. Adrover Gallego/Roa (NEB) 6-7 (4)

Kuckelman/Loy (NEB) def. Gutierrez/ Iskakova (ORU) 6-2

Kadleckova/Cabezas (Iowa State) def. Kuckelman/Loy (NEB) 6-4
