Huskers Complete Day One of Rancher Invite

Los Angeles, Calif – The Nebraska men’s tennis team completed play at the Rancher Invite on Friday following last weekend’s successful outing at the Oklahoma State Invite.

Sophomore Nic Wiedenhorn was the lone Husker to gather a win in singles play as he defeated Pepperdine’s Enrique Luque Rico 6-3, 6-3. The Stuttgart, Germany native improves to 3-1 in the fall after finishing last weekend’s tournament with two wins. Senior Victor Moreno Lozano and freshman Roni Hietaranta both dropped their first singles matches of the fall after going undefeated last weekend. Senior William Gleason competed in the No.1 spot for the Huskers but fell short to Pepperdine’s Eric Hadigian 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles action, Gleason and Wiedenhorn won in their first match together defeating San Diego State’s Seeman and Mandma 8-5. Hietaranta and Moreno fell just short in their doubles match 8-5, marking the first time they’ve competed together this fall.
