Husker Baseball Opening Scrimmage to Be Streamed Live on Thursday

Lincoln – Fans looking for their first fix of live Husker sports will have an opportunity this Thursday, Sept. 17, as the Husker Sports Network and Nebraska Athletics are partnering to stream the Husker baseball team’s first scrimmage of the season at Hawks Field.

Under the direction of second-year Head Coach Will Bolt, the Huskers will take the field at around 3:30 p.m. and fans can watch all of the action on the Huskers’ social channels, including Twitter (@Huskers), Facebook (facebook.com/huskers) and on Huskers.com.

“It’s a great opportunity to give our fans a live Husker sporting event to watch,” Bolt said. “Our guys are excited to compete, and Thursday’s scrimmage is chance to give our fans an opportunity to get their first look at the 2021 Huskers in action.”

The broadcast will feature live video with the Husker Sports Network team of Greg Sharpe and Ben McLaughlin calling all of the action. Thursday’s broadcast will also feature interviews with players throughout the contest.

The Huskers closed the abbreviated 2020 campaign with wins in six of their last seven contests to finish with a 7-8 mark, welcome back eight of their top-10 hitters from a year ago, led by freshman Leighton Banjoff (.341/4/13) and senior Joe Acker (.306/2/8). On the mound, the Husker return five of their top six pitchers in terms of innings pitched a year ago.
