Frosted Flakes: The Olympics Are Here!-huskers-football-swimming-gymnastics-tokoyo

No one else is talking about it, so you probably don’t know, but the Olympics have begun.

My children are already tired of them. They like watching the events once they get over the fact that I am watching what I want to, and they don’t get to watch what they want.

The first swimming events that I watched were on Sunday night and the first two USA swimmers I saw swim got 4th place. I just can’t imagine how soul crushing it is to get 4th. I think that would probably be the worst place to get.

Then, Katie Ledecky got second in the 400m freestyle to Ariarne Titmus of Austrailia. I really thought she was going to have it until the end.

But Titmus’ coach was probably my favorite:

I think we all need that kind of energy on our side.

It was also awesome to see Lydia Jacoby win gold in the 100m breaststroke. She’s 17 years old and they weren’t even really talking about her. It was an amazing race.

A thought that I had while watching swimming is that some of those swimmers have those goggles on so tight. The marks on their faces look painful. Not all of them seem to have quite as deep of lines. They are the experts, so I’m sure they know what they are doing, but it doesn’t look comfy.

One event that I forget about each Olympics is the synchronized diving. It is mesmerizing to watch. I just can’t even fathom how you get so precise. Those athletes are amazing.

Speaking of amazing athletes, I am hoping that tonight the USA Women’s Gymnastics team puts on a show for us all tonight.

Now onto your flakes.
