Four Huskers Named Academic All-District

Four members of the Nebraska track and field program were honored Thursday afternoon, as Kevin Cahoy, George Kusche, Luke Siedhoff and Andrianna Jacobs all earned Academic All-District VII accolades from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The four student-athletes will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors, as first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Thursday, Aug. 12.
 
Cahoy will be bidding for his third straight Academic All-America award after earning first-team all-district honors for the third straight year. A first-team Academic All-American in 2020 and a third-team honoree in 2019, he is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a four-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. Cahoy, who holds a 3.99 GPA in medicine, is a four-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. The Grand Island, Neb., native took home the bronze medal on pole vault at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships. 
 
Siedhoff will look to become a two-time Academic All-American after earning first-team all-district honors for the second straight year. A second-team Academic All-American in 2020, he was Nebraska’s Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Year honoree in 2020. He is a five-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. The Crete, Neb., native earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors on four occasions, including first-team honors in 2018.  Siedhoff attends the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where he holds a 4.00 GPA after graduating in 2020 with a 3.92 GPA.
 
Kusche earned his first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor in 2021. A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, he has a 3.77 GPA in actuarial science. Kusche is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. The Malelane, South Africa, native is a four-time USTFCCCA All-American. He was the Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Champion in 2021 and currently holds the school records in both the mile and 3,000 meters.
 
Jacobs earned her first academic all-district honor, as she holds a 4.0 GPA in broadcasting, journalism and psychology. The senior from Rochester, Minn., is a four-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was named a Nebraska Outstanding Scholar in 2021. Jacobs earned a silver medal in pole vault at both the 2017 Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Championships. She also placed third at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the same event.
