Four Husker Bowlers Named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars



Lincoln – A quartet of Nebraska bowlers were recognized for their performance in the classroom Wednesday as the Big Ten Conference announced its Distinguished Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year.

The four bowlers honored include Kendyl Hofmeister (Essexville, Mich.), Allison Morris (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Estefania Prieto (Bogota, Colombia) and Cassidy Ray (Herrin, Ill.). They are among the 100 Husker student-athletes recognized by the Big Ten.

Morris, who carried a perfect 4.0 GPA during the 2019-20 academic year, is being lauded for the fourth straight year, while Ray is being recognized for the second straight year. Prieto, who also had a 4.0 GPA in 2019-20, and Hofmeister are being honored for the first time.

To be eligible for selection, students must be a recipient of Academic All-Big Ten Recognition in the previous academic year, must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for the entire previous academic year (two semesters or three quarters) and earned a minimum GPA of 3.70 or better during the previous academic year (excluding any summer grades).
