Eight Bowlers Named Academic All-Big Ten

Lincoln — A total of eight members of the Nebraska bowling team garnered Academic All-Big Ten honors Wednesday (June 10), as the conference office announced the spring and at-large Academic All-Big Ten teams.

The bowlers honored by the Big Ten included Alexa Fernandez, Michelle Guarro, Kendyl Hofmeister, Gwen Maeha, Allison Morris, Raquel Orozco, Estefania Prieto and Cassidy Ray.

Morris, a four-time honoree, leads a group of six bowlers who are multi-year selections. Fernandez is a three-time selection, while Guarro, Orozco and Ray all were repeat selections from 2019.  Hofmeister and Maeha are both first-time honorees.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must have been enrolled fulltime at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Wednesday’s announcement caps a strong academic year for the program, as the Husker bowlers posted a team GPA of 3.54 during the spring semester.
