Coffey Secures Place in NCAA Championships

The Nebraska swimming and diving team adds yet another athlete to it’s already impressive list heading to the NCAA Championships, now totaling four.

Audrey Coffey, who was third on the NCAA alternate list, officially received an invitation to the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga.

Coffey, a first time qualifier, earned the spot in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:18.56. She notched the time at the Big Ten Championships and her times ranks second all-time at Nebraska. The sophomore swimmer from Napervillie, Ill. has enjoyed a spectacular season and joins an impressive squad of NCAA qualifiers.

She joins fellow swimmers Autumn Haebig and Madison Coughlen, as well as diver Sara Troyer, who qualified on Tuesday afternoon.

This is the most NCAA qualifiers the program has had since the 1999-2000 swimming season where the Huskers sent five to the NCAA Championships.

The four Huskers will compete in the NCAA Championships beginning on Wednesday, March 18 through Saturday, March 21.
