Jordan Westerkamp has twisted his body in ways the average human can’t to make some challenging catches over the years, but his fellow receivers all immediately knew this one was different.

When Westerkamp landed awkwardly after a third-quarter catch last Saturday, junior De’Mornay Pierson-El was like most everyone else in Memorial Stadium — worried.

“It was a scary moment, because, for one, I don’t think anyone has ever seen Westy react that way, so you knew it was kind of serious,” Pierson-El said.

Consider Pierson-El relieved to find out Westerkamp could be back sooner than later, although the receiver (back injury) and senior tight end Cethan Carter (elbow) are expected to miss at least the next game against Indiana.
