Lincoln Police Busy After Weekend Bar Break

Lincoln’s 2am bar breaks in downtown Lincoln over the weekends are especailly busy times for Lincoln Police.

Officer Angela Sands indicates that was brought home this past weekend, when three potentially violent incidents escalated within minutes of each other Saturday morning..

Officer Sands says a 36 year old man was stabbed when he tried to break up a fight at 14th and O a little after two am. As police looked for suspects in a nearby parking garage…they encountered a man, not involved in the stabbing, shooting into a nearby car and speeding away in a vehicle with two other people. The three were stopped and arrested at 18th and L. Police also found cocaine, marijuana and a rifle inside the vehicle.

Police also responded to a disturbance involving a gun at 9th and Judson. One of the suspects fled in a vehicle until stopped….and then fled on foot with his hand at his waist band, which police suspected to be a gun. He eventually threw the loaded handgun to the ground and was arrested.
