Huskers use second half surge to top Roos

The Nebraska women’s basketball team is off to a 2-0 start after notching an 80-60 win over UMKC Kangaroos at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday night in front of 3,503 fans.

Freshman Taylor Kissinger led three Huskers in double figures with a game-high 18 points. Junior Maddie Simon added 11 points and matched her career-high with eight rebounds. The Huskers opened the second half on a 10-0 run to take control of the game after leading 38-35 at halftime.

The Huskers were red hot in the second half, shooting 57.2 from the field in the final two quarters. UMKC was only 19.1 percent from the floor in the second half.

Sophomore Grace Mitchell also had a career-high 10 points. Nebraska will next take on Arkansas at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Thursday. Tip off is scheduled. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:45, and can be heard on B-107.3.
