Husker Football schedule news could come “soon,” a look ahead at Nebraska’s future opponents

Nebraska Football likes to make its non-conference schedule many years in advance.

Mark your calendars – the Huskers travel to Tuscon to play Arizona on Sept. 13, 2031.

Earlier this week on Sports Nightly, Nebraska athletic director Bill Moos said there could be some news coming “soon” regarding the Huskers’ future schedules. Most likely the non-conference portion.

“I would have really concentrated on the old Big Eight,” Moos said. “Our fans can get to Kansas and Kansas State easily. Even maybe Missouri, even though they’re in the SEC now. Probably stay away from Oklahoma on a regular basis, but we’re playing them coming up and that’s going to be exciting for our fans.”

Through 2031, Nebraska has four games scheduled against Oklahoma, four more against Colorado, two against Tennessee and two against Arizona.

What other power five teams would fans like to see in Lincoln?

In a Twitter poll conducted, more than half of 55 voters surveyed said they’d like to see Nebraska play Texas again.

33 people were surveyed on Facebook and on the street combined. Oklahoma led all schools in this group, receiving eight votes. The other 25 voters were literally all over the map:

Texas – 6

Notre Dame – 5

Texas A&M, Florida State, Florida – 2

Georgia, USC, Tennessee, Washington State, UCF, Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri – 1

Here’s a look at the non-conference opponents Nebraska has already scheduled for future seasons. Under current Big Ten rules, schools in the league can only have three non-conference games on their schedule per season.
