Frost completes staff with offensive coordinator, tight ends coach

UCF offensive coordinator and receivers coach Troy Walters will reportedly have the same role with Scott Frost in Lincoln.

Scott Frost’s coaching staff appears to be fully assembled.

Numerous media outlets reported Thursday that UCF offensive coordinator Troy Walters and tight ends coach Sean Beckton will join Frost in Lincoln.

Beckton also served as UCF’s recruiting coordinator, while Walters also coached wide receivers.

Both Beckton and Walters helped run an offense that scored 49.4 points per game for UCF this season; more than any team in the country.

Frost has now hired all ten of his full-time assistants from UCF, including former Husker linebacker Barrett Ruud, who’s currently on the road recruiting.

Ruud, who won’t be brought on fully until Jan. 8, doesn’t have a defined role yet. He was quality control administrator at UCF.

Frost and his staff still plan on coaching the tenth ranked Golden Knights in the Peach Bowl against No. 7 in Atlanta on Jan. 1.

“I want to do what’s right and my first priority is always going to be the players,” Frost said Thursday on The Jim Rome Show“The players at UCF have scratched, clawed and worked to get the opportunity that they’ve gotten.”

“We are working on right now, the logistics of it. If I can make it work, I owe it to those guys to give them the best chance to win that football game. We are trying to figure out all that now. It’d be great to see them one more time.”
