Lincoln Police Officers were on the Wesleyan University campus for a number of hours Wednesday night following personal text messages talking about a “shooter on campus”. Officer Angela Sands says police did a thorough search of buildings immediately and determined there was never a shooter.
Officer Sands says that people in the area might have been anxious because of crews working nearby at an unrelated hazmat situation and a car that had its windows shot out by a b-b gun. Officer Sands says they received a number of frantic calls from concerned out-of-town parents as well. Officer Sands says they are now trying to determine if it was a hoax or a misunderstanding.
