Defensive tackle standout from Pima Community College commits to Nebraska

Defensive tackle Tony Fair from Pima Community College in Arizona committed to Nebraska on Thursday.

The 6-3, 330-pound defensive tackle chose the Huskers over Indiana.

Fair graduated from high school in 2014, but according to the Omaha World-Herald, his family couldn’t pay the bills at a private school and get his transcripts. So, Fair attended high school in South Bend, Indiana through August 2015, enrolled at Indiana State, and left there after a concussion.

He enrolled at Pima CC in 2016, and played his first year of college football in 2017. Fair still has two seasons of eligibility left.

He had 98 tackles last season at Pima and earned a scholarship offer from Indiana on April 30. It appeared Fair was a lock for the Hoosiers, but a May 18 offer by Nebraska made him reconsider.

Fair will play this fall at Pima, graduate in December and enroll at Nebraska. The Huskers’ 2019 recruiting class now has 12 commits. Fair is the first defensive tackle in the class.
