Concussions Add to Worries About Contact Sports

Fewer high school students nationally  are playing football  and other contact sports. Some say that results from concerns over the effects of concussions. UNL Psychology Professor Dennis Molfese tells KLIN News their new research reinforces such concerns.

He says their new research shows that symptoms of the brain trauma can last much longer then originally thought. He adds that in some cases the brain’s cognitive delays may be permanent.

Professor Molfese says Lincoln Public Schools reported a thousand concussions last year….which he emphasizes is a lot of concussions.
